Invest Texas Council Applauds Metro 8 Chambers Endorsement of P3s
AUSTIN – Invest Texas Council Chairman, Ron Simmons today applauded the Metro 8 chambers for their endorsement of public-private partnerships or P3s in the Lone Star State. In a letter to the Texas legislature, the chambers of commerce from the state’s eight largest cities said they “are writing to encourage you (the Texas Legislature) to fully consider opportunities this session to jump-start infrastructure development and leverage state and taxpayer investments by embracing the use of P3s.”
The Metro 8 letter concludes by highlighting the economic need for P3s: “By partnering with the private sector for large-scale infrastructure projects, more public dollars are freed up for projects across the state. That is why we encourage you to consider the importance of P3s to increase infrastructure investment in Texas and work this session to incorporate P3s into the mix of appropriate transportation funding options.”
“There is a growing need for public-private partnerships throughout the state and ITC applauds Texas’ Metro 8 for their endorsement of P3s,” said ITC Chairman, Ron Simmons. “As Texas’ largest cities see their populations swell, the demand to invest in critical infrastructure has never been greater. By working with our private partners, the Lone Star State will be able to keep up with economic growth and ensure the needs of Texans are met.”
